Wrong Time in Outlook Calendar Appointments and Meeting Requests – Russia

This is applicable to Microsoft Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, or any Microsoft Outlook Version, as this is Operating system level Update.

Russia has announced that it will change its existing time zones on October 26, 2014. Microsoft released an update for Windows on September 23, 2014 to address this change. Users should install the update before October 26, 2014 to avoid having incorrect time zone data after this date.

After October 2014, If meeting appointments are sent from Russia its appear at incorrect times in Outlook Calendar, example it may appear 1 hour early from its actual time for India Users, to fix this problem below update from Microsoft should be installed

Windows 7 64bit OS users

Note: Make sure Windows Update service is started and running, else you may get below error:

Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.

Go to Run ( Windows key  + R )
type services.msc and hit enter
scroll to Windows Update service, right click properties>set startup type to Automatic ( Delayed )
>apply

click Start>Ok
